ABOUT HIRSCH

Designer • Educator • Problem Solver

Having a strong passion for helping people develop the skills and confidence to solve challenging problems helps me in both regards. Because of this, my work spans two complementary areas: architecture and education.

ARCHITECTURE

With a surplus of professional experience, I have worked across residential, mixed-use, commercial, educational, and healthcare projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle-from feasibility and zoning analysis through design development, permitting, construction documentation, consultant coordination, and construction administration. I am particularly interested in sustainable design, residential architecture, adaptive reuse, and thoughtful, tehcnically rigorous solutions.

EDUCATION
I bring the same problem-solving mindset to tutoring. My approach is centered on understanding how each student thinks, identifying where they are struggling, and adapting my teaching to help concepts become clear and manageable. Rather than simply providing answers, I focus on helping students understand why something works, develop effective strategies so that they become more confident and independent learners.

A SHARED PHILOSOPHY
Whether I'm designing a building or teaching a student, I believe the best solutions come from understanding the problem and the "whys" before trying to solve it.

Good design requires listening, asking questions, testing ideas, and refining them.

Good teaching is much the same.

In both, my goal is to make complex problems more understandable, develop thoughtful solutions, and create results that are both effective and meaningful.
